Hi, Iām Dave, the walking dad.
I started roasting my own coffee by hand 4 years ago because my go-to source of dark roast was constantly out of stock due to COVID. As a dad who has to deal with the boundless energy, unpredictable tantrums, and endless demands of two toddlers, I NEED COFFEE on deck 24/7 to keep me functional and walking.
So I started my own journey of learning about coffee beans and its farming practices, discovered how coffee is one of the most pesticide-contaminated crops in the world and vowed to only use organic coffee despite its higher cost. I experimented with hand- roasting coffee in small batches using a cast iron pot and never went back to stale, store-bought coffee ever again. I finally had my constant supply of perfectly dark roasted beans on deck for brewing the perfect cup of dark liquid gold that keeps my zombified body walking.
For all the dads (and moms) (uncles and aunts too) wrangling in this chaotic yet fulfilling adventure of parenthood, you deserve a good cup of fresh, organic coffee.
Why sumatra?
Grown on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, this coffee is known for its full-bodied taste with earthy notes. The coffee beans are often processed using a method called wet-hulling, which gives Sumatra coffee its distinct flavor.
One of the defining characteristics of Sumatra coffee is its low acidity, making it a smooth and mild option for those who prefer a less sharp taste in their brew. The flavor profile can also include hints of chocolate, cedar, and spices, providing a complex and rich experience for the palate.
Overall, Sumatra coffee offers a bold and flavorful cup that is perfect for those looking to explore a different taste in their daily coffee routine.
